Week 5: Looking at Video

We like the existing Experiential Journey video because it blurs the boundary between the NZ perceived from the outside and the reality we, the people living here, experience. The candid, funny, kiwi nature of it has appeal and seems to translate well even in juxtaposition with cheesy, touristy shots.

Similarly, this film captures the NZ vernacular really well, though in a more experimental way.

We feel it'll be important to capture both, as the extraordinary surroundings and the new context will be a key driver for potential participants. Humour may be a good gateway for this, and a candid, casual treatment could communicate the sense of community and 'kiwi-ness' really well, as it does in Nick's initial video.
