Week 5: Looking at Video
We like the existing Experiential Journey video because it blurs the boundary between the NZ perceived from the outside and the reality we, the people living here, experience. The candid, funny, kiwi nature of it has appeal and seems to translate well even in juxtaposition with cheesy, touristy shots.
Aotearoa Now from Ryan Fielding on Vimeo.
Similarly, this film captures the NZ vernacular really well, though in a more experimental way.
New Zealand from Chris Benny on Vimeo.
We feel it'll be important to capture both, as the extraordinary surroundings and the new context will be a key driver for potential participants. Humour may be a good gateway for this, and a candid, casual treatment could communicate the sense of community and 'kiwi-ness' really well, as it does in Nick's initial video.
Week 5: Possible typefaces
We like our current idea of using distorted type over a dotted grid however we are unsure if ThreeSix is the best typeface for us to use as it is quite digital. The following are typefaces which we are considering using instead.
Week 5: Colour scheme development
We have decided to base the colour scheme on twitter data. The first three letters from a users twitter handle are used to generate a colour. The collateral will always be the colour of the latest tweet. This relinquishes control of the collateral, putting it in the hands of the users. This reflects the nature of the conference.
Week 5: Finalising things for presentation

Semester Break: Colour scheme
We think we want to use a gradient or spectrum of colours rather than a fixed colour scheme. We think this will work well as it will complement the malleable, fluid nature of the conference. We think that the colours could relate to users and could be self selected or given to a user based on certain data (possibly location).
